Effect of Some Seed Borne Fungi on Seed Germination and Seedling Emergence of Soybean and Antifungal Impact of Certain Botanicals

An investigation was carried out to examine the effect of some seed borne fungi on germination and seedling emergence soybean. A total five species comprising four genera namely Aspergillus flavus, niger, Fusarium oxysporum. Penicillium chrysogenum Colletotrichum sp were isolated from tested seeds. The effects mycelial suspension percentage studied. Ten seeds soaked in each fungus for 1hour before placing Petri-dishes sowing bags containing 3 kg sterilized soil triplicates. It observed study that had highest inhibitory while niger no germination. Also, result showed all a significant (p<0.05) length radicle with A. flavus recording least (2.10 cm) as compared control (4.75 cm). oxysporum, significantly reduced shoot length. While differences at p<0.05 root P.
